Naija Wash

Stay safe on Naija Wash

Most jobs go smoothly. These simple habits keep you away from the few that don't.

The golden rule

Never send money to someone you haven't met, and never share a code. No real provider or customer needs your OTP, BVN, card PIN, or password. Naija Wash staff will never ask for them either.

Before you book

1
Look for the green Verified badge. It means the provider's ID and face were checked. If there is no badge, ask more questions and look at their photos and reviews.
2
Read the reviews and look at photos of real work.
3
Chat in the app first. Ask what is included, how long it takes, and what could change the price. Send photos of what needs cleaning so the price is fair.
4
Agree the price, date and time in the chat. Use the price offer button so there is a record both of you accepted.
5
Compare two or three providers. A price far below everyone else's is a warning sign.

On the day

1
Tell someone (a friend or family member) who is coming and when.
2
Check who arrives matches the provider you chatted with. Ask for their name.
3
Stay nearby while work is done at your home, and keep valuables and documents put away.
4
Pay after the work, when you have checked it and are happy. Prefer a way you can prove (a transfer with a reference) over leaving cash with no record.

Red flags

1
They ask for money before doing anything, “transport”, “booking fee” or “registration”, especially to a personal account.
2
They want to leave the app quickly (WhatsApp, Telegram) before you have agreed on a price.
3
They ask for your OTP, BVN, PIN or password, or send a link to “confirm” payment.
4
The price is far too cheap, or keeps changing.
5
They pressure you: “pay now or the slot will go”.
6
Their profile has no photos, no reviews and no Verified badge, and they refuse to answer simple questions.

Protect your business

1
Get verified. The green badge makes customers trust you and book more.
2
Ask questions in the chat and ask for photos so your price is right and you don't get surprises on site.
3
Agree the price and time in the chat with the price offer button. A record protects you in a disagreement.
4
Be honest in your listing: real photos, real prices, what is included.
5
Take before and after photos of the job and show the customer.
6
Be on time and message if you are delayed. Good reviews are your best advertising.

Staying safe with customers

1
For jobs at someone's home or office, tell a colleague the address and time.
2
If a place feels unsafe, you can leave. No job is worth your safety.
3
Beware of overpayment scams: a customer who “accidentally” sends too much and asks for a refund. Check your bank app, not a screenshot.
4
Never share your own banking codes with customers.

Red flags from customers

1
Asks you to pay or send money first (for a “deposit” on their behalf, a “delivery fee”, a “ticket”).
2
Sends links and asks you to log in or enter card details.
3
Pushes you to move to another app before agreeing a price, then asks for your bank details.
4
Abusive or threatening messages.
